wind & fire rides for parkland
For the past seven years, Wind & Fire Motorcycle Club has been revving their engines to raise money for Parkland’s burn camp, Camp I-Thonka-Chi.
The Dallas and Irving chapters have combined their fundraising efforts and raised more than $157,000 which sends dozens of young burn survivors to camp.
Since 1992, Parkland’s burn camp has helped hundreds of children and teenagers build friendships, improve social skills, boost confidence and have fun. The camp’s name is I-Thonka-Chi, a Choctaw phrase means “a place that makes one strong or fearless, not afraid to face life.”
Every June, the group hammers down to Meridian, Texas, for visitors’ day. They interact with the children and teenagers, and campers even get to sit on the bikers’ Harley Davidson motorcycles!
Wind & Fire Motorcycle Club is made up of active and retired firefighters riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. There are over 4,300 members and 170 chapters, with members living in 49 states and 23 countries.
