PARKLAND FACTS 


As the primary teaching hospital for The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland trains more than 50 percent of the physicians practicing in Dallas County.

Our Level 1 Trauma Center is the first and busiest in the region, treating 62 percent of trauma cases in Dallas County. We are a leader in disaster preparedness, implementing disaster response tactics that have been adopted around the world.

For the 16th consecutive year, Parkland Memorial Hospital was again named one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by U.S.News & World Report. Only 174 U.S. hospitals received this honor. We proudly serve as the safety net hospital for Dallas County’s indigent population.

Established in 1962, Parkland’s Burn Center is now the second largest civilian burn unit in the nation – treating nearly 1,000 patients every year.

 Every day at Parkland:


•  As many as 650 patients will be cared for on the inpatient units
•  More than 1,600 people will receive primary care
•  Nearly 1,700 people will be cared for in the outpatient setting by specialists
•  Approximately 45 babies will be born
•  More than 40 surgeries will be performed
•  Nearly 400 people will be seen in the Emergency Department
•  Approximately 15,000 prescriptions will be filled
•  Over 22,000 laboratory tests will be performed
•  Nearly 1,000 radiology examinations will be performed
