Discover Parkland is a monthly program series that provides an insider opportunity to learn about Parkland Health & Hospital System. It is tailored to members of our community who care about the future of Dallas and want to gain a first-hand, behind-the-scenes perspective of how our safety net institution provides high quality care.
Throughout each the visit, there will be opportunities to talk one-on-one with a variety of Parkland administrators and medical staff to understand our role as an academic medical center, and to gain a once-in-a-lifetime look at what makes Parkland a renowned health care provider.

“Building the New Parkland—Meet the Man with the Plan”

Come meet the man who is managing the enormous task over the next five years of building a $1.27 billion new hospital campus. Walter Jones, Senior Vice President of Facilities, is an architect by training but also a passionate health care advocate. He will share our up-to-the-minute plan for building the country’s newest and largest public hospital—with groundbreaking in late 2010.
“Caring for Families in Our Primary Oriented Care Centers"

Some participants may be surprised to hear about the many preventive care services Parkland provides to our community’s families in our Community Oriented Primary Care Centers (COPCs), youth and family centers and school-based clinics. Tour one of our COPCs and hear about innovations that allow Parkland’s physicians and staff to provide better care to more patients in a highly integrated health system that has provided a model for other systems around the country.
